The story

Made by a South Side mom.

Hi, I'm Anyea. I live in Washington Park, and I built this site for all the moms on the South Side looking for stuff to do with their kiddos.

When I had my son, I started looking for the things to do with him South Side: a good local storytime, a Saturday spot that didn't require driving 40 minutes north, a playgroup, an indoor option for January. What I found instead was a mess — Facebook groups with outdated info, blog posts from 2017, listings that ignored half the neighborhoods south of the Loop.

So I started keeping my own list. Things I came across from parents at the park, recommendations from coworkers, and just walking around the neighborhood. Library programs nobody had told me about. The corner cafe with high chairs. The free concerts at the cultural center.

It grew. And it kept growing.

The South Side has always had amazing family-friendly things to do. It just hasn't always been gathered in one place.

That's the whole idea. We're not lacking parks, programs, museums, libraries, support groups, or things to do. But we are lacking a centralized place where you can find them all without having fourteen tabs open or getting stuck in the endless pit of a Facebook mom groups. So this is that place. One page. Filtered by what you need: neighborhood, age, price, whether it's a one-time event or something you can count on every Tuesday morning.

I add resources I've used myself or that other moms have vouched for. I lean toward places that are accessible, affordable, and rooted in the neighborhoods they serve; small businesses, community orgs, public libraries etc.

If there's a place, program, or person who belongs on this site, please share it! Doesn't matter if it's the museum where you had your kid's birthday or the lady down the street who runs a Saturday playgroup out of her living room.
